A Tuesday Trove of Treasures

I’ve never done a post like this one before, but I had some items I wanted to pass on, so here goes:

First, a push for you to consider coming to the Cherry Creek Chorale’s Christmas concert this weekend. I just went onto our website and as far as I can tell there are still tickets left. (Link is to the sales page.) I didn’t go all the way into the checkout process, but I think you should be able to come if you want to. However, I wouldn’t suggest that you just come on Friday or Saturday night and expect to buy your ticket at the door, as our Christmas concerts usually do sell out. They close down the online ticket sales on Thursday at noon, so be warned. I don’t want anyone to come and be turned away!

Second. an encouragement for you to read at least some of the Advent Devotional that the music director at Bethany Lutheran Church, our concert venue, has written. Forrest Guittar has done a fabulous job of taking individual lines from the main piece we’re performing, Ottorino Respighi’s Laud to the Nativity, and pulling in other materials and his own thoughts. I’ve been checking in periodically to read some more. It’s great!

Third, something that Forrest mentioned on one of the Advent days, a reference to a song by the great Andrae Crouch, the Gospel singer and composer who died in 2015, “Soon and Very Soon.” So of course I had to look up a video performance, and there it is, being introduced by none other than Tennessee Ernie Ford. (At least I’m pretty sure that’s who it is.) Don’t miss the part where they zero in on the little girl who’s enjoying the performance thoroughly and trying to clap–doing so completely off the beat. (I sympathize!) Serious earworm warning, by the way.

And, FINALLY, a post I wrote over on my “Intentional Conservative” website:

My Comments on the John MacArthur/Ben Shapiro Interview

Happy Tuesday!
